The Caruthers family businesses continued into the 1970's with a lease agreement with Mobil Oil Company for a service station at 1942 Broadway, Gary Indiana. The service station was ran by brothers Rufus Caruthers Jr, Booker Caruthers, and Leonard Caruthers. They sold Mobil gasoline, and Mobil oil and lubricants.
